Open sky and sharp air tonight, with light air out of the SW with the glass holding level. On Seguin Lake, work points where shallow meets deep first. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Biting air and slow fish: small baits, long pauses.

Seguin Lake is one of the Stony Rapids listings for Saskatchewan. The surface lies 445 metres up. At roughly 15.37 sq km it ranks among the larger waters in the region. The shoreline runs to about 75 km, far more than one trip can cover. On our Stony Rapids list it sits near the top for size. Fort Smith is the closest place, 373 km off. Then Buffalo Narrows, 486 km, and Fort McMurray, 502 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Survey and observation records for Stony Rapids include cisco, northern pike and round whitefish. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Anyone new to Seguin Lake should walk it once before setting up.
The year swings from about -27°C in January to roughly 14°C in July. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Once it clears, about late May, the fishing comes on quickly. Open water usually runs from late May until about late October. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. That shapes the year on Seguin Lake.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Robins Lake is 5 km off. None of that is settled for Seguin Lake in what we hold.
