• Where to Fish on Petit lac Begin

There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Survey and observation records for Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Anyone new to Petit lac Begin should walk it once before setting up.

• Seasonal Patterns

Temperature averages peak at 18°C in July and bottom out at -15°C in January. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Time your trip to Petit lac Begin by conditions rather than dates.

• Tackle & Baits

Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. A campsite lies 890 m away for anyone staying over. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Begin at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. What applies at Petit lac Begin may have changed since it was mapped.
