A closed sky with even light today, with barely a breath of wind and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac Gadelle along the seam between weed and open water. Plan around the stretch from night into morning. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Out in Mauricie, Quebec, sits Lac Gadelle. Everything around it is pine and birch. Small even by pond standards, it rewards one careful line. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Mauricie. Supplies mean a trip to Laurentides, 20 km off. Beyond it, Sainte-Thècle at 21 km and Saint-Tite at 31 km. Others close at hand: Lac Groseille 0.4 km, Lac Germain just 0.6 km, Lac de la Montagne 0.6 km, Lac du Midi just 0.8 km and Lac Grenouille 1 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Public occurrence data for Mauricie names northern pike, brook trout and walleye. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Read Lac Gadelle before you fish it and the day goes better.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. That is the shape of the year on Lac Gadelle.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac Groseille sits 0.4 km off and takes the overflow. Check the current arrangement for Lac Gadelle.
