Dull, settled light over the water, with a gentle ripple from the SSW and no real change in pressure. On Lac Zig, work the shaded margin through bright spells first. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Zig lies in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, in Quebec. It stands 455 metres above sea level. At 4 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Leblanc lies 116 km from the water. Senneterre lies 118 km off, Manawan another 133 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. At Lac Zig the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -18°C in January. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Zig.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Zog sits 0.4 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Zig, the notice at the access point is the final word.
