Clear conditions and high sun today, with a proper ripple driven from the NW and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac Zeni around the margins and the shelf beyond them. Numbers are low everywhere; the middle of the day is the pick of them. Take the small wins and call it early if it dies.

Lac Zeni is one of the Côte-Nord waters in Quebec. The setting is northern bush on every side. It measures some 8.52 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. At about 26 km of edge, most people fish a single area and learn it well. On our Côte-Nord list it sits near the top for size. The nearest place of any size is Nain, 234 km away. Labrador City is 287 km and Wabush 289 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
We hold no depth figure for this one. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Across Côte-Nord, recorded fish include logperch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Lac Zeni the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
July runs about 11°C on average, January about -24°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Once it clears, about early June, the fishing comes on quickly. The lid tends to go about early June and return around late October. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Lac Zeni fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Janniere sits 10 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Zeni in particular, ask before you travel.
