An even grey lid over the water, with the water lying quiet with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac Yron along the first drop-off and weed lines. A hard day on paper; the morning edges the rest. Go lighter and slower than usual. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Quebec holds Lac Yron, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The surface lies 390 metres up. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list holds plenty of bigger water. For supplies, Val-d'Or is 59 km out. Senneterre is 66 km and Barraute 79 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Reported across Abitibi-Témiscamingue: northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Fish Lac Yron where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -16°C. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. The season on Lac Yron rarely departs from it.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Barreau, 0.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Lac Yron carry more weight than any list.
