An even grey lid over the water, with flat calm through the day with the glass holding level. Activity on Lac Wishbone should centre on the calm side of the wind. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Lac Wishbone is listed under Outaouais, Quebec. It lies 406 metres above sea level. With some 94 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The perimeter runs near 13 km, so plan the walk before you start. Few waters listed in Outaouais are bigger. Saint-Boniface is the closest place, 74 km off. Maniwaki lies 84 km off, Saint-Raphaël another 93 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Open biodiversity records for Outaouais list pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Wishbone fishes better once you know its edges.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -17°C in January. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near late November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. It holds true on Lac Wishbone more years than not.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Queyssel sits 1.3 km off and takes the overflow. Check the current arrangement for Lac Wishbone.
