Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a kind S breeze on the water and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac William should come off the weed line and any gaps in it. Everything points to the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac William is one of the Outaouais waters in Quebec. It sits in lake country bush. Around 26 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The edge runs 2.6 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Quebec listings. Some 30 km away sits Saint-Raphaël, the nearest settlement. Wakefield lies 39 km off, Maniwaki another 42 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Read Lac William for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Average temperature peaks around 19°C in July and bottoms out near -13°C in January. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April. The water is typically free of ice between late April and early December. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Lac William runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Aime, 1.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm before you fish Lac William.
