An even grey lid over the water, with an easy breeze from the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Give any hard bottom among the soft the first hour at Lac Viloche. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Viloche is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, in Quebec. This is taiga country. It measures about 23 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. With about 4.2 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. For supplies, Chibougamau is 95 km out. The big place round here is Saguenay, 217 km distant. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Treat Lac Viloche as a water to read rather than to cover.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -18°C on the long-run figures. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. On Lac Viloche that shapes the whole year.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Laon, 1.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Lac Viloche are worth checking on the day.
