Flat light and a covered sky today, with an easy breeze from the SSW with the glass holding level. Expect most activity at Lac Vic around reed fringes and open pockets. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the morning. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

You will find Lac Vic in Mauricie, Quebec. It lies 439 metres above sea level. Roughly 18 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. About 2.9 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. You are 47 km from Weymontachie. Then La Tuque, 64 km, and Manawan, 65 km. Close by you also have: Lac Yvonne at about 0.9 km, Lac Lace after 1.7 km, Lac Ibsen at about 2 km, Lac Kean after 2.1 km and Lac Jelly at about 2.2 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Across Mauricie, recorded fish include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Read Lac Vic for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. The season on Lac Vic rarely departs from it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Yvonne at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. Ask locally about Lac Vic if anything is unclear.
