Dull, settled light over the water, with mild air moving in from the S and steady pressure. Whatever swims in Lac Vegiar should be near shallow cover and weed edges. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Set in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, this is Lac Vegiar. Country round the bank runs to taiga. At about 11 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The whole outline is near 1.8 km, and most of it is walkable. The closest town, Normandin, is 54 km away. Further out sit Albanel (57 km) and Saint-Félicien (70 km). The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac Vegiar gives up more to patience than to distance.
The year swings from about -18°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Vegiar.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, Lac Christain is 1.2 km off. Signs at Lac Vegiar carry more weight than any list.
