Wet weather working through today, with calm air over the water and pressure going nowhere. On Lac Tom, work the first drop-off and weed lines first. The numbers single out the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Out in Mauricie, Quebec, sits Lac Tom. Elevation runs to 253 metres. Surface area is around 19 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The edge covers about 7.1 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. La Tuque at 18 km is the nearest place to stop. After that come Laurentides at 67 km and Weymontachie at 74 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Tom the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Climate records put July near 18°C and January near -16°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Lac Tom runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Lapointe at 1.1 km is the sensible second choice. Check the current arrangement for Lac Tom.
