Flat light and a covered sky today, with air barely moving and steady pressure. On Lac Tarbell, work the seam between weed and open water first. Save your energy for the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Capitale-Nationale, Quebec, is where Lac Tarbell sits. Height above sea level is 351 metres. Surface area is around 20 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Bank access stretches around 2.8 km in total. It ranks high for size among our Capitale-Nationale listings. The closest town, Laurentides, is 23 km away. It is 106 km to Sainte-Foy, the nearest city. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Reported across Capitale-Nationale: lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker, sauger and channel catfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Lac Tarbell for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -16°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Tarbell.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Lac du Pere-Ross is 0.9 km off. None of that is settled for Lac Tarbell in what we hold.
