Lac Aram, Quebec: Fishing Spots and Seasons

• Overview

  The Mauricie end of Quebec holds Lac Aram. The ground round it is pine and birch. At about 11 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. With about 1.7 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. The nearest town is Laurentides, 25 km away. The nearest city of size is Sainte-Foy, 108 km away. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.

• Where to Fish on Lac Aram

  Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch among the fish reported. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The near bank of Lac Aram is often the one people ignore.

• Seasonal Patterns

  The year swings from about -16°C in January to roughly 17°C in July. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. Break-up sits around late April on average, with the water closing again about late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Plan around that when you fish Lac Aram.

• Tackle & Baits

  We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. The nearest alternative is Lac des Cenelles, 1.1 km out. None of that is settled for Lac Aram in what we hold.
