Fresh rain topping the water up today, with light air out of the W and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Petiot should come off windblown banks where food collects. One clear peak today: the evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

The Capitale-Nationale end of Quebec holds Lac Petiot. Height above sea level is 346 metres. You can fish the entire water from one spot if you pick it well. Most waters listed here for Capitale-Nationale are larger. Laurentides lies 25 km from the water. Then La Tuque, 28 km, and Sainte-Thècle, 57 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Capitale-Nationale records list lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac Petiot the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -16°C. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Count the season from break-up, usually late April. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. The season on Lac Petiot rarely departs from it.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac des Epinettes, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Petiot for certain.
