Rain moving through today, with a whisper of wind from the SSW and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Lac Tamandua is structure within a cast of the bank. The forecast is against you; the middle of the day is the least bad option. Short, focused sessions beat a long grind today.

In Quebec, Lac Tamandua belongs to Outaouais. It stands 372 metres above sea level. The water covers some 11 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The bank runs about 1.8 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. You are 100 km from Saint-Boniface. The big place round here is Gatineau, 209 km distant. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Species logged across Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Tamandua the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -16°C for January. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near late November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Lac Tamandua fishes to that pattern most years.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Tamis, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Tamandua for certain.
