Wet weather working through today, with a faint SSW drift with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Lac Raccroc should be near the first drop-off and weed lines. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Raccroc lies within the bounds of Outaouais, Quebec. It sits at 368 metres above sea level. Small at around 4 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. On size it sits at the modest end of our Outaouais list. The town to know is Saint-Boniface, 100 km out. Gatineau is the closest city, 208 km away. Others worth noting: Lac Ardoix about 0.8 km, Lac Cherlieu 0.8 km, Lac Tamandua about 0.9 km, Lac Vanesse 0.9 km and Lac Aubiat about 1.1 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Outaouais records list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt among the fish reported. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Lac Raccroc a short move beats a long cast.
The warm month here averages 17°C; the cold one sits at -16°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Climate figures give an open season running early May to late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. The season on Lac Raccroc rarely departs from it.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Ardoix at 0.8 km is the sensible second choice. What applies at Lac Raccroc may have changed since it was mapped.
