An even grey lid over the water, with a mirror surface most of the day and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Lac Tachy will be around the shaded margin through bright spells. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet.

Lac Tachy is an Outaouais water, Quebec side. It lies 376 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 6 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Supplies mean a trip to Saint-Boniface, 80 km off. Gatineau is the closest city, 187 km away. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Outaouais list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. The county list is broader than any single water. The shape of Lac Tachy decides where the fish sit.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -17°C for January. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about late November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. On Lac Tachy the same rules apply, with local timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. For a change of water, Lac Ubac is 1.4 km distant. Rules at Lac Tachy are worth checking on the day.
