A grey, even sky over the water, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SW with a settled glass. On Lac Sugere, work the weed line and any gaps in it first. A hard day on paper; the morning edges the rest. Go lighter and slower than usual. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Sugere is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue waters in Quebec. The water sits 365 metres up. It measures about 10 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. With about 1.4 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. Val-d'Or is the closest town at 84 km. After that come Senneterre at 91 km and Barraute at 106 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Our records hold no depth for this water. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. The county list is broader than any single water. On Lac Sugere the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -17°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. That shapes the year on Lac Sugere.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Venin at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Lac Sugere should be assumed from this page alone.
