Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a soft SW wind and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac Jumel will be around any hard bottom among the soft. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Jumel is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue listings for Quebec. The surface lies 351 metres up. It measures about 10 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The full circuit measures close to 1.6 km on foot. Start from Val-d'Or, 85 km down the road. The big place round here is Gatineau, 254 km distant. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Anyone new to Lac Jumel should walk it once before setting up.
Long-run averages give July about 17°C and January about -17°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Expect Lac Jumel to follow that timing.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. If the gate is shut, Lac Raz at 0.9 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Lac Jumel should be assumed from this page alone.
