A storm system brushing the area today, with a faint SW drift and no real change in pressure. The fish at Lac Sars are likely to sit near the calm side of the wind. A hard day on paper; the morning edges the rest. Go lighter and slower than usual. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Lac Sars in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Everything around it is boreal forest. The water covers some 11 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Bank access stretches around 2.0 km in total. The closest town, Val-d'Or, is 83 km distant. Senneterre follows at 89 km, then Barraute at 104 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Species logged across Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. At Lac Sars the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -17°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Sars.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. If the gate is shut, Lac Lesine at 1.3 km is the nearest alternative. Ask locally about Lac Sars if anything is unclear.
