A grey, even sky over the water, with a soft S wind with the glass holding level. Fish at Lac Standish should hold close to the seam between weed and open water. If you pick one session, make it the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

This water sits in Mauricie, Quebec. The surface lies 401 metres up. Small at around 8 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Supplies mean a trip to Weymontachie, 6.9 km off. Then Leblanc, 59 km, and La Tuque, 90 km. Others within reach: Lac Betty a touch under 1.5 km, Lac Kanitakowak out at 3.2 km, Lac Gloria a touch under 3.9 km, Lac Awtosiw out at 4 km and Lac du Bout a touch under 4 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout and walleye among the fish reported. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Work Lac Standish in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -17°C on the long-run figures. This far north the hard season runs and runs. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. At Lac Standish the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Betty at 1.5 km is the sensible second choice. Rules at Lac Standish are worth checking on the day.
