Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a whisper of wind from the S with the glass holding level. Most of the action on Lac Dube should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Dube is set in Mauricie, Quebec. The bank gives way to boreal forest. Head to Weymontachie, 13 km away, for anything you forgot. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 197 km away. Others worth noting: Lac Byre just 0.4 km, Lac Palissade (0.8 km), Lac Gelinas just 1 km, Lac Bluet (1.1 km) and Lac Tremblay just 1.3 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Mauricie list northern pike, brook trout and walleye. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Work Lac Dube in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -17°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Time your trip to Lac Dube by conditions rather than dates.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Byre sits 0.4 km off and takes the overflow. Ask locally about Lac Dube if anything is unclear.
