  Lac Savane is one of the Mauricie listings for Quebec. The bank is 487 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Mauricie list holds plenty of bigger water. Weymontachie lies 13 km from the water. Further out sit Leblanc (65 km) and La Tuque (84 km). It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.

• Where to Fish on Lac Savane

  Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Lac Savane that means starting tight and working out.
