Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a light chop building from the SE and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac Soixante around the calm side of the wind. The numbers single out the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Soixante lies in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec. Elevation runs to 359 metres. At about 44 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. A shoreline of some 3.9 km keeps the choices simple. It is among the larger waters listed here for Capitale-Nationale. The closest town, Laurentides, is 20 km distant. Then Saint-Raymond, 24 km, and Saint-Ubalde, 36 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Records held for Capitale-Nationale cover lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac Soixante gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
The seasonal spread runs -15°C to 17°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near late November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Soixante.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows a campsite some 400 m from the water. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. If the gate is shut, Lac Marecot at 0.8 km is the nearest alternative. Confirm before you fish Lac Soixante.
