Showers crossing the water today, with a gentle ripple from the SSE with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac Huard is the first drop-off and weed lines. The useful hours run the day. Stay patient; middling days often turn late. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Out in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec, sits Lac Huard. Elevation runs to 344 metres. This is a pocket water of some 5 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Head to Laurentides, 17 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Saint-Raymond (26 km) and Saint-Ubalde (35 km). The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Capitale-Nationale: lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker, sauger and channel catfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Huard light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Between January at about -15°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Count the season from break-up, usually late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Huard.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. If the gate is shut, Lac Fenelon at 0.7 km is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Lac Huard in what we hold.
