Flat light and a covered sky today, with a light chop building from the S and pressure sitting still. Activity on Lac Slide should centre on structure within a cast of the bank. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

The Mauricie end of Quebec holds Lac Slide. The surface lies 214 metres up. With some 56 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. With about 3.0 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. Size puts it in the front rank of our Mauricie list. Supplies mean a trip to La Tuque, 47 km off. Métabetchouan is 78 km away, with Weymontachie at 78 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Work Lac Slide in sections rather than trying to cover it.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -16°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Open water usually runs from late April until about mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Plan any trip to Lac Slide around it.
The access position is unclear from public sources. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Gaudelet at 1.5 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Lac Slide should be assumed from this page alone.
