Overcast skies today, with a firm SSW blow and steady pressure. Lac Sheila should fish best around the seam between weed and open water today. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

This water sits in Mauricie, Quebec. The land about it is northern bush. Roughly 17 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The bank runs about 2.5 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. The closest town, Leblanc, is 63 km distant. For a city, Trois-Rivières is 240 km off. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout and walleye among the fish reported. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac Sheila responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -17°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Anyone fishing Lac Sheila regularly works to that calendar.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac de la Sauterelle at 3 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm access to Lac Sheila locally before you travel.
