Soft grey light all day today, with light air out of the SSW and pressure sitting still. The fish at Lac Shaw are likely to sit near reed fringes and open pockets. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Shaw is a Côte-Nord water, in Quebec. It sits at 335 metres above sea level. It runs to roughly 37 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The whole outline is near 4.9 km, and most of it is walkable. For a base, Baie-Comeau sits 28 km out. Further out sit Hauterive (30 km) and Chute-aux-Outardes (41 km). No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Lac Shaw gives up more to patience than to distance.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -16°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Lac Shaw runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. For a change of water, Lac Len is 0.9 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac Shaw in what we hold.
