Flat light and a covered sky today, with hardly a ripple anywhere with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac Roy should come off windblown banks where food collects. A long productive spell runs night into morning. A careful, quiet approach will out-fish a busy one. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Roy is a Mauricie water, Quebec side. The water sits 360 metres up. Surface area is around 13 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. There is roughly 2.5 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Sainte-Thècle is the closest town at 20 km. Then Laurentides, 23 km, and Saint-Tite, 29 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Mauricie, recorded fish include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Read Lac Roy before you fish it and the day goes better.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. On Lac Roy that shapes the whole year.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is a launch about 1.1 km from the bank. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Boiteau, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm before you fish Lac Roy.
