Solid cloud cover today, with a soft S wind with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Lac Rowan should be near the weed line and any gaps in it. One clear peak today: the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Rowan is set in Lanaudière, Quebec. The surroundings are pine and birch. At 8 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. 10 km away sits Rawdon, the nearest town. After that come Chertsey at 10 km and Sainte-Béatrix at 15 km. Alternatives close at hand: Lac du Cinq some 0.8 km off, Lac Thompson a shade over 1.1 km, Lac Brule some 1.3 km off, Lac Mireau a shade over 1.4 km and Lac Michel some 1.4 km off. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Lanaudière, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. At Lac Rowan light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Long-term averages put July at about 19°C and January near -13°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. The lid tends to go about late April and return around late November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Plan around that when you fish Lac Rowan.
No access rule appears in what we hold. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Failing this one, try Lac du Cinq, 0.8 km away. Signs at Lac Rowan carry more weight than any list.
