Solid cloud cover today, with a gentle ripple from the S and pressure sitting still. Lac Jaune should fish best around the shaded margin through bright spells today. If you pick one session, make it the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Jaune is one of the Lanaudière listings for Quebec. The bank is 252 metres above sea level. Roughly 34 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The edge covers about 6.9 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. It is among the larger waters listed here for Lanaudière. For a base, Chertsey sits 7.4 km out. Then Rawdon, 11 km, and Sainte-Béatrix, 18 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. At Lac Jaune light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Expect July to average close to 19°C, with January the cold end at about -13°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near late November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Jaune.
The access position is unclear from public sources. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac d'Argent sits 1 km off and takes the overflow. Confirm before you fish Lac Jaune.
