A rainy spell sitting over the area, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface with a settled glass. Activity on Lac Ross should centre on the calm side of the wind. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Ross is one of the Outaouais listings for Quebec. Elevation runs to 246 metres. With some 21 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The whole outline is near 2.2 km, and most of it is walkable. The closest town, Saint-Boniface, is 37 km distant. Beyond it, Maniwaki at 50 km and Ferme-Neuve at 54 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Fish documented in Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Read Lac Ross before you fish it and the day goes better.
On the long-term average, July reads 18°C and January reads -15°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. That is the shape of the year on Lac Ross.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Cassaber, 0.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Ross for certain.
