Flat light and a covered sky today, with stillness over the whole water and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac Roch should come off points where shallow meets deep. The strongest window is the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Roch belongs to Mauricie, Quebec. The land about it is boreal forest. Surface area runs to about 8 hectares — small enough to read in one session. Leblanc lies 13 km from the water. For a city, Saguenay is 231 km off. More in the same country: Lac du Catamaran at 0.8 km, Lac Midia the better part of 1.7 km, Lac Youkata at 2.2 km, Lac Obi the better part of 4.1 km and Lac Shako at 4.6 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Mauricie, recorded fish include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. On Lac Roch the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Climate normals give 16°C for July and -17°C for January. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac Roch rarely departs from it.
We hold no note on access for this one. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac du Catamaran at 0.8 km is the sensible second choice. Signs at Lac Roch carry more weight than any list.
