A closed sky with even light today, with a decent SSW wind working the banks with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac Rita should be near the shallows early and the drop later. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lac Rita in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. It sits in boreal forest country. Around 65 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Shoreline comes to about 4.5 km, small enough to learn in a day. On our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list it sits near the top for size. Normandin is the closest town at 68 km. Saint-Félicien is 70 km and Albanel 76 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean names northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Lac Rita the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -18°C in January. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Expect Lac Rita to follow that timing.
Public data does not answer the access question here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. If the gate is shut, Lac Molard at 3 km is the nearest alternative. Ask locally about Lac Rita if anything is unclear.
