Flat light and a covered sky today, with steady pressure of wind from the SSW with a settled glass. Activity on Lac Jeune should centre on shallow cover and weed edges. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Jeune sits within Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean in Quebec. Land around it is spruce and muskeg. At roughly 7 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Normandin is the closest town at 71 km. It is 178 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. The shape of Lac Jeune decides where the fish sit.
Seasonal averages run from -18°C in January up to 16°C in July. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Expect Lac Jeune to follow that timing.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac du Soleil, 0.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. The position on Lac Jeune is worth confirming on the day.
