Passing showers with dry spells between, with a busy SSW wind on the open water and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Lac Molard should hold close to the calm side of the wind. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

You will find Lac Molard in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The country round it is taiga from end to end. This is sizeable water at about 2.68 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. The margin runs to about 20 km in total. Size puts it in the front rank of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. The closest town, Normandin, is 70 km away. Saguenay sits 174 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Survey and observation records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Read Lac Molard before you fish it and the day goes better.
Between January at about -18°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Plan any trip to Lac Molard around it.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Rita sits 3 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Molard in particular, ask before you travel.
