Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a whisper of wind from the SSW with the glass holding level. Fish at Lac Richer should hold close to sheltered bays and points. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Richer sits in Outaouais, out in Quebec. Elevation runs to 315 metres. At roughly 8 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. 37 km away sits Deep River, the nearest town. Beyond it, Chalk River at 44 km and Petawawa at 56 km. Water in the same corner: Lac Lafleur at 1.7 km, Lac Payette out at 2.6 km, Lac McCann at 2.7 km, Lac Philbin out at 3.4 km and Lac Tubman at 3.5 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Outaouais, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Anyone new to Lac Richer should walk it once before setting up.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -14°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Anyone fishing Lac Richer regularly works to that calendar.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Lafleur sits 1.7 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Richer for certain.
