Heavy overcast holding through the day, with light air out of the SW with a settled glass. Expect most activity at Lac Ransart around the calm side of the wind. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the morning. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Ransart stands in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. The setting is boreal forest. At about 11 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Bank access stretches around 2.7 km in total. The closest town, Val-d'Or, is 73 km away. It is 268 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. On Lac Ransart the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -16°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Lac Ransart fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Fenil at 1 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Ransart in particular, ask before you travel.
