Dull, settled light over the water, with a kind SW breeze on the water and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Lac Quenza will be around reed fringes and open pockets. A stay-home graph, with the morning as the one excuse to go. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Quenza lies in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, in Quebec. The country round it is taiga from end to end. At roughly 6 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Val-d'Or is the closest town at 70 km. Then Senneterre, 76 km, and Barraute, 90 km. Nearest other option: Lac Normier (0.3 km), Lac de la Balade at 0.9 km, Lac Padozel (1.1 km), Lac du Garde at 1.2 km and Lac Isard (1.5 km). It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Abitibi-Témiscamingue: northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. At Lac Quenza light and wind decide more than tackle does.
The warmest month averages 17°C, the coldest about -16°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. The season on Lac Quenza follows the weather closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Mapping shows a campsite some 530 m from the water. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Lac Normier is 0.3 km off. For Lac Quenza, the notice at the access point is the final word.
