Soft grey light all day today, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac Rahier around bays that hold the day's warmth. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

In Quebec, Lac Rahier belongs to Outaouais. What surrounds it is lake country bush. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Outaouais list. For a base, Saint-Boniface sits 78 km out. Gatineau sits 192 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Public occurrence data for Outaouais names pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. On Lac Rahier a short move beats a long cast.
Between January at about -17°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Lac Rahier fishes to that pattern most years.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Lac Salamandre is 0.3 km off. Rules at Lac Rahier are worth checking on the day.
