Rain moving through today, with calm air over the water and the barometer holding steady. Expect most activity at Lac Polloi around sheltered bays and points. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Look for Lac Polloi in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue part of Quebec. The bank gives way to spruce and muskeg. Small at around 7 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. For supplies, Leblanc is 112 km out. Gatineau is the closest city, 270 km away. Others close at hand: Lac Carr near enough 0.6 km, Lac Hoi some 0.9 km off, Lac Barbara near enough 1.4 km, Lac Shorty some 1.6 km off and Lac de la Fourche near enough 2.2 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker among the fish reported. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. At Lac Polloi the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -18°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Lac Polloi runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. For a change of water, Lac Carr is 0.6 km distant. Where Lac Polloi is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
