A grey, even sky over the water, with a gentle ripple from the SW and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac Pinard along any hard bottom among the soft. Make the morning the heart of the trip. Ride the conditions while they last. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Quebec holds Lac Pinard, in Estrie. Height above sea level is 522 metres. Surface area runs to about 3 hectares — small enough to read in one session. Our Estrie list holds plenty of bigger water. For supplies, Lac-Mégantic is 18 km out. Sherbrooke sits 86 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Estrie include rainbow trout, white sucker and pumpkinseed. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. At Lac Pinard light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Temperature averages peak at 18°C in July and bottom out at -12°C in January. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. On average, late April opens the water and late November closes it again. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Pinard runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Should this one be busy, Lac de la Souris is 1.9 km off. What applies at Lac Pinard may have changed since it was mapped.
