A grey, even sky over the water, with a soft SSW wind with the glass holding level. Most of the action on Lac Pierre should come off inflow corners and shaded margins. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the morning. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

You will find Lac Pierre in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Elevation runs to 666 metres. At 4 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Most waters listed here for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean are larger. The closest town, Saint-Fulgence, is 63 km away. Further out sit Saint-Honoré (66 km) and La Baie (73 km). The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Lac Pierre fishes better once you know its edges.
Long-run averages give July about 15°C and January about -18°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Once it clears, about mid May, the fishing comes on quickly. Average temperatures cross freezing around mid May in spring and again near early November in autumn. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Pierre.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Should this one be busy, Lac Morneau is 0.5 km off. For Lac Pierre, the notice at the access point is the final word.
