Rain on and off through the day, with steady pressure of wind from the SSW and no real change in pressure. Give the calm side of the wind the first hour at Lac Picoron. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Picoron belongs to Laurentides, Quebec. The surroundings are pine and birch. Small at around 7 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Manawan sits 46 km from the bank. Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne sits 140 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Nearby, in order: Lac Bonnemain after 1.4 km, Lac Lapalme at about 1.8 km, Lac Tareau after 1.9 km, Lac Faller at about 2.1 km and Lac des Eclisses after 2.5 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. The near bank of Lac Picoron is often the one people ignore.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -15°C in January. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Count the season from break-up, usually late April. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Plan around that when you fish Lac Picoron.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, Lac Bonnemain is 1.4 km off. For Lac Picoron in particular, ask before you travel.
