Bands of rain crossing through the day, with a soft SSW wind with a settled glass. Lac Pico should fish best around the seam between weed and open water today. Numbers are low everywhere; the middle of the day is the pick of them. Take the small wins and call it early if it dies. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Pico belongs to Outaouais, Quebec. What surrounds it is pine and birch. Roughly 12 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The bank runs about 2.4 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Supplies mean a trip to Saint-Boniface, 28 km off. Further out sit Maniwaki (40 km) and Saint-Raphaël (53 km). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Outaouais cover pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Fish Lac Pico to its features, not to its size.
July runs about 18°C on average, January about -15°C. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Plan around that when you fish Lac Pico.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Novis, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Lac Pico may have changed since it was mapped.
