Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a faint S drift with the glass holding level. On Lac Perdu, work the first drop-off and weed lines first. One clear peak today: the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Perdu stands in Lanaudière, Quebec. Elevation runs to 396 metres. Surface area runs to about 4 hectares — small enough to read in one session. Mandeville is the closest place, 15 km off. Then Saint-Gabriel, 17 km, and Saint-Jean-de-Matha, 20 km. In the same area: Lac Wa sits 0.4 km out, Lac Cochon a touch under 1.1 km, Lac Croche sits 1.4 km out, Lac Gauthier a touch under 1.5 km and Lac Comtois sits 1.7 km out. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Work Lac Perdu in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -14°C. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Perdu.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. The nearest alternative is Lac Wa, 0.4 km out. Ask locally about Lac Perdu if anything is unclear.
