Rain moving through today, with a soft S wind and the barometer holding steady. The productive water at Lac Anne will be around the calm side of the wind. The day peaks in the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Set in Lanaudière, Quebec, this is Lac Anne. It sits at 428 metres above sea level. With some 11 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The edge runs 2.0 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Start from Mandeville, 14 km down the road. Trois-Rivières sits 75 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. On Lac Anne the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
On the long-term average, July reads 18°C and January reads -14°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac Anne fishes to that pattern most years.
Public data does not answer the access question here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. For a change of water, Lac Cochon is 0.9 km distant. Check the position on Lac Anne before loading the car.
