Steady rain over the water today, with light air out of the SSE and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac Pelard around structure within a cast of the bank. The strongest window is the morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Pelard is a Mauricie water, in Quebec. Around the bank it is rolling bush. This is a pocket water of some 7 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. The nearest place of any size is Sainte-Thècle, 13 km away. Further out sit Saint-Tite (14 km) and Hérouxville (20 km). No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout and walleye. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Read Lac Pelard for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -14°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Expect Lac Pelard to follow that timing.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Lac a Pierre at 1.1 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Pelard, the notice at the access point is the final word.
