Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a faint SSE drift and pressure sitting still. Fish at Lac du Trou should hold close to the calm side of the wind. Set the alarm around the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac du Trou sits within Mauricie in Quebec. It lies 251 metres above sea level. It covers about 4 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. On size it sits at the modest end of our Mauricie list. The nearest place of any size is Sainte-Thècle, 16 km away. Saint-Tite is 18 km and Hérouxville 23 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout and walleye among the fish reported. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Read Lac du Trou for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Long-run averages give July about 18°C and January about -14°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Expect Lac du Trou to follow that timing.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Bouton at 1.3 km is the sensible second choice. Where Lac du Trou is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
